I had pretty goodDec 04 2005Undecided
I had pretty good SAT scores, in fact since I scored above a 1200 I was admitted to the Honors College, which is a great resource & opportunity. I would recommend that students make sure they have good faculty recommendations, and that if they are uncertain of their SAT scores, they make sure they are involved in a lot of extra curricular activities and write quality essays.
SAT: 1270 Female

I showed up one day, filled out an app, and since essay was optional, I didn't have to do one. DON'T COME TO HOFSTRA if you want to actually learn and be surrounded by intelligent students. Do come to Hofstra if you want to party, get drunk all the time, and engage in anything but scholarly work.
SAT: 1150 Female
Hofstra is a competitive schoolJan 26 2004Perfomance Arts
Hofstra is a competitive school. It is important when applying to Hofstra to write a powerful and original essay. This university also looks for students with good grades and who participate in extracurricular activites. Someone who is better than the average student.
ACT: 30 Female
Hofstra has a very leanient acceptance policyJan 17 2004Other
Hofstra has a very leanient acceptance policy. To begin we have a freshman division which means if you did not do that well on ur SATs you still have a good chance of being able to attend this school. NO KIDDING. if you got a 860 or something hofstra might actually give you a chance to go to the school. However everything does come at a price.

Make it a point to call andJan 03 2004Journalism
Make it a point to call and actually speak to an advisor of the major you are interested in. do as much online research and request info packets. try to visit the campus so you know the conditions. I think so many people don't so their research and are surprisingly "shocked" to find out about how the campus isn't perfect. write a smart essay and show interest. colleges make files for you every time you request info, so they know how much you tried to learn about the school. even though a school is "easy to get into"...it's probably not as easy to stay aflaot..so shoot high but be realistic. make sure you learn about loans if you need them...and ask ask ask questions. the more you know now, the less you will be "shocked" later. it's your future...and you plan it now so be picky, open-minded, and diligent...but always have good times. GOOD LUCK!!!
